End-Time Intervention
by Wade E Taylor
There is an urgent need for the intervention of God in the Church, within His people, and in the affairs of the nations. At this present time the Lord is seeking out those whom He can use for this purpose, as the time in which man is in control of the nations is coming to an end.
In the past, with few exceptions, the Lord moved through human agency, but was limited by the level of faith and yieldedness in those He used. However, due to the lateness of the hour and the urgency of the time in which we live, the Lord is beginning to transcend these limitations.
We are approaching the end of the sixth day, when the Church Age will close and the Millennial Kingdom will be established. We are living in the time of the Parousia (the appearing) of Jesus, when He will manifestly take His place as the Head of His Body. A continuous state of “intervention” in which “divine control” will be effective, is about to take place.
At this present time, the Lord is preparing “overcomers” – those who desire to go beyond their present spiritual experience and are responding to His voice in obedience to His end-time purposes. These are aware that something different is taking place, as they are hearing a “call” to come into a higher level of relationship to the Lord.
“After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up here, and I will show you things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the Spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and One sat on the throne.” Revelation 4:1-2
As world conditions increasingly deteriorate, it is becoming evident that there is no lasting solution to world problems, except through “divine intervention.” Any possible method of dealing with these present world dilemmas is so elusive that leaders must come to recognize that they are incapable of any resolution of these problems.
We, as intercessors, must pray that the heads of nations will acknowledge their need for a Higher Power – the Lord Jesus Christ, to intervene.
Therefore, there is a present urgent need for a “continuous state of divine intervention.” This end-time “intervention” is a state in which the Lord brings about a condition, or experience, in the life of a person, situation, or nation, through a direct act of His sovereign power, which is independent of any ability that the individual may possess in order to bring these things to pass.
This is the time in which the Lord will “lift” into His end-time purposes, all those who (as overcomers), have entered a state of rest in His presence, and are willing and available to be used, beyond any level of faith or ability that they may possess. This requires a high level of personal integrity and commitment. Some time ago, the Lord came and asked me if I would be willing to sign a contract with Him in agreement with this requirement.
There are two aspects to this end-time intervention.
The first is the calling out of a remnant (overcomers) in order to prepare them to be used in the closing out of the Church Age and the establishing of the Kingdom Age. During this time of preparation, there is a special grace that will lift and empower those who are being qualified for this purpose. These are seen as being seated with Jesus in His throne, in a two sided relationship – that of being a bride, and also, a son.
“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready. And it was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.” Revelation 19:7-9 NAS
For us to be a part of this “bride” who is seated with her Bridegroom (Jesus) on His throne, requires of us a total submission to Him as being our head, in which our identity becomes so “one” with His, that we become the visible expression of His life.
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God… For the earnest expectation of the creature waits for the manifestation of the sons of God.” Romans 8:14, 19
In becoming a mature “son,” we enter into a cooperative relationship with Jesus for the outworking of His purposes in the closing out of the Gentile Age, and in the establishing of the Millennial Kingdom.
These two positions – our being a bride and also a son, can be viewed as being like a two-sided coin. Each side is different, yet it is one coin. As we submit to His Headship, we become His bride. As we respond to the Lord in obedience, we grow into spiritual maturity, as a son.
“Come, My beloved… Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flowers, whether the tender grape appear, and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give you My loves.” Song of Solomon 7:11-12
As we unconditionally commit all that we are, along with all that we ever will be, to the Lord and in obedience rise above all that is less than His best for us, each of these relationships will begin to function – Being a son, the Lord will say to us, “let us get up early to the vineyards” (The fruit of the vine [church] will begin to mature). And being a bride, the Lord will say to us, “there will I give you My loves (His approbation will rest upon our lives).
This two-fold “overcoming” relationship is impossible of attainment, apart from the sovereign hand of the Lord being stretched out in our behalf to qualify us for these positions. Therefore, to merely read these teachings and mentally grasp them, is not sufficient. They must be experientially entered, step upon step.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
To experience this level of identification with Jesus, I must unconditionally submit the totality of my being to Him – all that I am, along with all that I do, and then specifically give Him permission to deal with me, as He may desire.
The second aspect of this end-time divine intervention is the “empowering” of this remnant to be used as a “witness” of the manifest glory and power of the Lord, in order to bring judgment to the Anti-Christ world system. An “Anti-Christ” is anything or anyone, who exalts himself above the Word of God, or denies the anointing and power of God.
“In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power; When He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.” II Thessalonians 1:8-10
This end-time intervention may also be referred to as the suspension of the ordinary law of approach to God, and the “interposition” of the divine hand to do things beyond that which we can accomplish through prayer and seeking. It is the way in which God bridges over the shortcomings and failures of His servants, and is the state in which He is the actor, and we are acted upon.
During the time of the closing out of the Church Age, Jesus will appear to His servants (Parousia) in order to prepare them for His doing exploits through them – altogether beyond that which they could believe for, or accomplish apart from intervention (apostolic enabling). The result of this will be the elimination of all independent action through the “lifting” (empowering) of those who are fully submitted to Jesus, into a place of pliability in His hands. It is God in the lead as an aspect of His end-time workings.
The Lord made man with the “power of choice” and gave him the title deed to the earth, with dominion. For this reason, God chose not to intrude on these rights, even though man completely failed his probationary test, and as a result, forfeited his dominion authority. Therefore, the Eternal Son bore upon the cross the curse that came upon man due to his disobedience and paid the full debt, totally defeating the enemy.
In resurrection, Jesus became the Heir of all things and has set before those who are overcomers an opportunity to partake with Him (as sons) of these powers, now restored to their proper place.
“And he that overcomes, and keeps My works to the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron….” Revelation 2:26-27
During the time that is referred to as being “the day of the Lord,” there will be a time of great tribulation, which will bring the judgments of God. Parallel to this is the time of His Parousia (His appearing), in which those who are “overcomers” will have a role to fulfill, as they will be the instruments that are used to execute, or carry out these judgments, rather than being the victims of it.
“Now thanks be to God, which always causes us to triumph in Christ, and makes manifest the savor of His knowledge by us in every place. For we are to God a sweet savor of Christ, in them that are being saved, and in them that perish: To the one we are the savor of death to death; and to the other the savor of life to life. And who is sufficient for these things?” II Corinthians 2:14-16
Paul is saying that during this time, we will become a fragrant aroma to all those who have received Jesus as their Savior and Lord. Because we are the instruments for judgment to all those who do not believe, the unbeliever will be very uncomfortable in our presence due to this aroma of life, which we receive from Jesus. They will not want to be near us, because we will appear to them as being an aroma of death.
“For the Lord takes pleasure in His people: He will beautify the meek with salvation. Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud on their beds. Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand; to execute vengeance upon the heathen and punishments upon the people: to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron: To execute upon them the judgment written: this honor have all His saints. Praise you the Lord.” Psalm 149:4-9
Glory always relates to the presence of the Lord. Thus, we are to be joyful in His presence, and let “the high praises of God be in our mouth.” We exalt the Lord by declaring Him to be whom He says He is – our Righteousness, our Sanctification, our Provider, our Healer, and the One who is present in our lives.
Not only are we to praise the Lord with our mouth, but we are to have a two-edged sword in our hand. The purpose for this is to execute vengeance on the nations, and judgment on all people. This will be done by the saints who are singing the high praises of God with this two-edged sword in their hand, which will result in “kings” being bound with chains.
We will have a part in carrying out these judgments while we are still in our mortal bodies. In our present state, we may say, “How can this be?” However, we are not to be concerned with our apparent lack, which the enemy loves to call to our attention. Rather, we are to look for Jesus, expecting Him to come in “intervention” and manifest Himself in and through us.
In preparation for His return, Jesus is beginning to personally appear to many, just as He did during the forty days before His ascension. It is of vital importance that we grasp the idea that these “interventions” will bring into clear view the methods the Lord will use in the closing out of the Church Age and the establishing of the Millennial Kingdom.
As a result of the impartation received during these appearances, our faith will be lifted into a higher realm, in which we will receive spiritual authority with the confirming “signs” of the apostolic – miracles and wonders happening beyond anything previously seen. It is of the utmost importance that we recognize and respond to these “interventions” of divine activity.
At this present time, many are being stirred by the Holy Spirit to make themselves available to the Lord to be used as an instrument in His end-time intervention – may we be found among these.
