“We Must Change the Narrative”
Kim Potter, Dayton, TN

Recently, I have heard a statement in my spirit that simply won’t go away. It is this: “Change the narrative.”

The Power of Our Words

Once again, we are hearing (over and again) negative news concerning this pandemic. Sadly, yet again, Christians everywhere are repeating what they are hearing spoken by news media outlets, the CDC, and other sources; they are repeating what the enemy is saying. I must remind you: life and death are in the power of the tongue, and we eat the fruit of our lips (see Proverbs 18:21). There is great power in our words. Therefore, we must be careful what we say, and what we repeat.

The Bible teaches us how to speak and what to say. In Joel 3:10 we are told, “Let the weak say, I am strong.” And in Mark 11:23 it says, “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.”

Then in Genesis 11:6 we read: “And the LORD said, ‘Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they propose to do will be withheld from them.'” They (the people at Babel) were all saying the same thing, and God said, essentially, “If they keep this up, nothing will be impossible for them.” Don’t you know that if this principal worked for evil, it will absolutely work for good? Changing the Narrative

Some of you may remember this (if you have been following me this long), and although it has been several years now, I still think of it often: During a time when gas prices had soared ridiculously high, God put it on my heart to have our partners pray and declare every single time they pumped gas. We declared that gas prices would come down to $2 a gallon. At the time, gas was over $5 a gallon.

We began to pray, and within a short period of time, gas prices dropped to, yes, $2 a gallon. We, as the Body of Christ, saw the power of the prayer of agreement and declaring what we wanted to see. We can experience that same thing again today. Nothing is impossible for God, and all things are possible in Him. We are IN Him.

I am confident that if we could get people to stop repeating the negative and begin declaring God’s Word and what He says, this thing would turn around, just like gas prices did that day. I am fully persuaded that God has said, “WE must change the narrative.” Our words of faith must be louder and more consistent than that of the news media.

If they say ten times a day, “COVID has reached a million cases a day,” we must say, “In the name of Jesus, COVID has ceased to spread and cases are going down each and every day.” And we must say this more often then they are declaring the negative. We will have what we say. However, if we keep repeating what THEY are saying, we will have what THEY say. I, for one, do not want that. (Photo via Pixabay)

There is so much power available in the Body of Christ. So much power is released when we pray and agree. I have seen it over and over again. We have the power and authority to stop this thing if we will stand together, declare together and refuse to stop until we see our desired results. We can change the narrative, and in that, change the outcome.

Please stop repeating the news media. Stop repeating fear and anxiety. Begin to declare the Word of God, even if you don’t feel it at the time. Declare ONLY what you want to see happen, not what you see with your natural eyes. We can change this season, together, in the name of Jesus Christ and by the authority of His Word. Won’t you join me? Here are some things we can declare:

Declare with Me

• COVID cases are decreasing day by day.
• COVID is a thing of the past.
• There are NO new variants.
• We are redeemed from every sickness, virus and disease.
• The pandemic is far behind us – it is finished.
• My family is under the Blood of Jesus Christ.
• No more COVID deaths.
• No more COVID hospitalizations.

Seems simple, doesn’t it? Yes, but once, not too long ago, we simply declared, “Gas prices are dropping to $2 a gallon.” And they did. We spoke and it happened; it will again.
