Linda Campbell’s Obituary
Linda (Oppegard) Campbell
May 27, 1955 to July 23, 2022
Linda was born at the Air Force Base near Alamogordo, New Mexico. She received Jesus as her Savior at the age of 11 at a summer camp near Santa Maria, California. She felt called to be a missionary about a year later.
She married William (Bill) Campbell at Souls Harbor Church in Minneapolis, MN on June 5, 1976, and had two children, Amy and Brian.
They moved to Rockford, IL a couple years after they were married. The Lord was preparing them for full time missions during their 20 years in Rockford, even though it didn’t seem like it at the time. Linda preached her first Sermon in Rockford. Linda served as a Nurse for over 25 years. Simultaneously she and Bill served on a Mission Board and as High School youth leaders and other positions of leadership. As youth leaders they took ministry outreach trips every summer, with a group of 20-30 teens to a church near the southern border of Texas and drove a bus into Mexico each day to evangelize.
They moved to Kansas City in 2000 to attend Bible School. Bill and Linda were part of a Mission trip to Uganda, Africa. This opened the door for them to start Prepare the Way Ministry (PTWM) in 2003, and were full-time ministry in 2008 with no church support, only Faith. The ministry has grown steadily through the years in Uganda, Africa. Today, Prepare the Way Ministry has a children’s home, an Elementary school with over 300 students, a youth center, two small farms, a Bible School with students coming from several countries, Prison Ministry, Evangelism teams that go out every week, and much, much more.
Linda has touched thousands of people with the gift of love given her by Jesus Christ. Hundreds of children and adults call her ‘MAMA LINDA’. She had God-given faith to show Jesus’ love through difficulty and hardship, a heart of service, with a legacy to last generations.
Linda was called from our presence into Jesus’ presence Saturday evening, July 23, 2022.
Linda is survived by loving husband Bill, loving children Amy Morrow (Chris) and Brian Campbell. Father Jim Oppegard, brother Gordy Oppegard (Kim), sister Sherry Schweisthal (Don), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and hundreds of close friends.
