Recently, I had a decision to make. As I prayed, I remember the Lord promised to lead us with His peace. So, I prayed for His peace in the direction we should go. The Lord not only gave us a definite peace, but all the pieces began to fall together. Our hearts were full of thanksgiving, we knew God had answered our prayer.

How wonderful when the word of God is embedded in our hearts, and we learn to lean on His word as we pray and believe into it. How important our daily times of devotion are, and that we spend time thinking on His word; that His word might come to mind when we need it and be appropriated into our lives.

“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee” Psalm 119:11.

The Holy Spirit will bring to remembrances words Jesus has spoken, that is His part. But, it has to be in there for us to remember, that is our part!

“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you” John 14:26.

The Lord’s desire is that truth be deeply embedded in our hearts and way of thinking. As we look to Him with a listening ear, we can pray and believe for the Lord’s desire to be fulfilled in us.

“Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden thou shalt make me to know wisdom” Psalm 51:6.

The Lord has promised, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” John 8:32. Again, we can pray into the word of God, and believe for its outworking in our lives. What freedom we come into as we seek first His blessing, His peace, and His presence in our lives.

What encouragement we have through His word! “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” 3 John 1:2. His words are precious, and to be treasured.

“Thy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it” Psalm 119:40.

“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones” Proverbs 16:24.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” Psalm 119:105.

Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me” Psalm 119:133.

God’s word is true from beginning to end. We can rest in His word, knowing it will be fulfilled. We can speak His word. Think His word. Let His word guide our thoughts and feelings. We can share His word with others.

“My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness” Psalm 119:172.

The Lord commends those who know the word of God, and rightly apply it to their life circumstances:

“Study to show thyself approved unto God; a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15

“Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and in doctrine.” 1 Timothy 5:17

As you take time to spend time in God’s word today may you find encouragement, strength, and peace. Not just reading as if in a marathon. But taking a scripture, a verse and looking at its context, then taking time to let that verse settle in your heart.

May the right word come to mind at the right time, as you walk down the path for your life. Whatever the need, may you find comfort and hope as you look at God’s word, take time to dwell on God’s word, and remember God’s word. May peace, wisdom, healing, and strength be ministered to your spirit.

Whatever the circumstances may we be able to say: “I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word.” Psalms 119:14-16

As David positioned himself, may we also position ourselves. “Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.” Psalms 119:14

“I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above thy name.” Psalm 138:2

May we remember, the Lord works and moves through His word! He has magnified His word even above His name. May we hide His word in our hearts, that through the choices we make, they might become experientially ours.
