Joe Joe Dawson: Abrupt Changes Are Coming

Unexpected or Unplanned Change

I have a very strong prophetic word I want to share with you that has already brought a whole lot of clarity to me. I hope it will also give you clarity and really help you. I sense that many people are navigating a season of transition during this time, and I believe this word will help you to understand what God is doing.

Just recently, in a corporate prayer meeting, the Lord spoke to me and said, “Abrupt change.” The word abrupt means “sudden” or “unexpected.” So I knew the Lord was saying that sudden change is coming that will drastically alter things.

Abrupt change can catch us off guard and off our mark if we are not listening to the voice of the Lord. So I believe this word was meant to reassure God’s people that the abrupt changes and sudden shifts that many are about to encounter are from Him and are for a purpose. Change, especially sudden change, can be unpleasant, but this is a season to deepen our trust in the Lord.

Just a few days after I received this word, one of our closest friends in the world called me. They have a church, and they were sharing with me that a handful of people who had been with them for eight to ten years abruptly left. Another friend of mine was suddenly released from his job. He had been thriving and really succeeding in his workplace, and he was just suddenly released. There are many other people connected to us who had begun to experience abrupt change as well, and I knew that this word was not just for me. Clearly it was for the Body of Christ in this season.

Sudden Shifts Are Meant to Accelerate You, Not Take You Out

God is bringing abrupt changes, so if things are happening to you and they are unexpected, just know that the Lord is working. Don’t let it bother you. You’re among good company now. Don’t be discouraged or overwhelmed. Just keep listening to the Lord and keep moving forward, because these sudden shifts are meant to accelerate you, not take you out.

In Acts 16:26 it says, “And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken. And immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone’s bonds were unfastened.” (Photo via Pixabay)

Picture this: You’re in bondage, bound in prison, and then all of a sudden you’re not. You may feel like in life (or circumstantially) that you are in chains, stuck or bound, but you are about to feel an earthquake from the Lord. An abrupt change is going to come, and you are going to be set free! You can then walk out and leave what has been keeping you bound behind. That is an abrupt change, and I believe it is about to happen for a lot of people.

The abrupt changes that are coming are going to bring you into a new level of freedom. Some have been under a tremendous weight, feeling stuck in a stressful situation for far too long, and may have even been on the verge of giving up. But be encouraged! God is about to shake you loose from those things that have been a hindrance to you as abrupt change comes to your life.

Acts 2:2 says, “And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.” The 120 people in the upper room were sitting there praying. Then all of a sudden, like a rushing mighty wind, the Holy Spirit came. That, my friends, is an abrupt change.

In the Right Place and with the Right People

Sometimes breakthrough is simply the end of a process that God was taking you through. He was leading you toward a certain destination, and the breakthrough came because you learned to endure and learned from the process. As sudden shifts happen, don’t sit around and cry and complain, or you won’t learn what God is trying to teach you. In order to get to your next level assignment, the Lord has to take you through a refining process until, one day, you are suddenly ready for what He wants to do in and through your life.

This is a day and an hour where God cannot have you in the wrong place or with the wrong people. God needs you to be properly positioned so that when His perfect timing and will collide, you will be ready to shift into what He has for you without missing a beat.

I really believe God is doing something right now that is fast paced. There’s an acceleration, and people who walk in normal, average Christianity won’t know what’s going on. However, if you’re a Kingdom-minded person, who moves in the apostolic and prophetic, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

God is doing something BIG right now. So, I want to encourage you to lean into the Lord in this season. If there’s an abrupt change, you can be sure that God is in the middle of it. He is positioning His people, right now, to walk in a greater level of anointing and the favor of God like never before. Ask the Lord what He is doing and what His purpose is in the abrupt changes, and you will be perfectly aligned for what He is about to do next! So be ready and be fully surrendered in this season!
