Recently as I was talking with a friend, I heard the Holy Spirit say the words, “Divine Interceptions.” When I heard this word quicken in my spirit, I sensed this was a NOW word for the Body of Christ and relevant to the times and seasons in which we live. Oftentimes when we hear the words, intercepted or interception, we equate it to a football game where one team has possession of the ball and then suddenly the other team overtakes the ball through unexpected actions. An interception of any kind changes the course of a previous direction.
“I believe the hand of God has stayed the hand of the enemy through a divine interception.” The word “interception” is defined as the engaging of an enemy force in an attempt to hinder or prevent it from carrying out its mission, the state or fact of being intercepted. The word “intercept” means to take, seize, or halt; to interrupt the course of something. The word “divine” means something that proceeds from God; whatever can in any respect be likened to Him; the things of God (Olive Tree Strong’s dictionary).
The Divine Interception of Kim Jong Un
For the past week, the Lord has had me in the familiar story of David and Goliath in 1 Samuel chapter 17. In this portion of Scripture, we find Saul and his army on the battlefield fighting against the Philistines. Goliath, the Philistine, is the big burly enemy who stands at the edge of the Valley of Elah (place of reproach) and taunts Saul and his army with threats of defeat and provocation; invoking fear upon everyone who’s listening. The story of David and Goliath ends with David defeating Goliath by using one of his five smooth stones that he draws from a brook and without using Saul’s armor as his preferred weapon of warfare on the battlefield. David then severs the head (authority) of Goliath with his sword while the Israelites plunder the Philistine camp (see 1 Samuel 17:38-52).
The story of David and Goliath is a popular and often used Biblical story that most of us have read many times. Because of this, I hadn’t planned on spending much time reading this portion of Scripture. However, the Holy Spirit captivated me for days by weaving Himself throughout these verses and highlighting how He was moving at this hour. The more I read, it was like the Lord was peeling back the layers of something I hadn’t yet considered. (Photo via flickr)
The Lord began to speak to me about North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un. Every time I would ponder upon the taunting of Goliath and his tactics of fear and intimidation towards Saul and his army, I saw the face of Kim Jong Un and his threats of impending war. When I read the verses describing Goliath’s weapons and his armor he dressed in for battle, North Korea’s Kim Jong Un and his supposed supply of weaponry came into full view.
“And a champion went out from the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, from Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. He had a bronze helmet on his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail, and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of bronze. And he had bronze armor on his legs and a bronze javelin between his shoulders. Now the staff of his spear was like a weaver’s beam, and his iron spearhead weighed six hundred shekels; and a shield-bearer went before him.
Then he stood and cried out to the armies of Israel, and said to them, ‘Why have you come out to line up for battle? Am I not a Philistine, and you the servants of Saul? Choose a man for yourselves, and let him come down to me. If he is able to fight with me and kill me, then we will be your servants. But if I prevail against him and kill him, then you shall be our servants and serve us.'” 1 Samuel 17:4-9
Goliath was boastful and over confident. He stood at the edge of the battlefield every day and antagonized Saul and his army. He positioned himself being sure that everyone saw and heard his threats of doom and destruction (see 1 Samuel 17:4-9). Goliath attempted to make his audience believe his victory was signed, sealed and delivered!
But Then God Sent David – A Divine Interception
David arrives onto the scene with a completely different view and mindset than Saul and his army. Everyone was talking about the giant standing at the edge of the battlefield, but no one had the courage to address Goliath, but David. When David arrived at the Valley of Elah, his brothers were less than enthusiastic with his presence, and no one was impressed by his confidence. However, David had firsthand experience with a God who saved him from the mouth of the lion and the grip of the bear. He knew the power of his God and what God had done for him when no one was looking.
David was trained by the Lord God Almighty Who equipped him for battle. God built David’s faith through personal experience and through hands-on training while he set his hand to the plow and worked the fields of his father’s sheep. While David’s brothers were shrinking back in fear by the taunts and threats of Goliath, God intercepts and sends David with a prophetic word to prophesy His intended outcome.
“But David said to Saul, ‘Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.'” 1 Samuel 17:34-36
“The Holy Spirit captivated me for days by weaving Himself throughout these verses and highlighting how He was moving at this hour.” David declares Who his God is and creates an atmosphere for victory. David remains steadfast in the face of opposition, therefore, disabling Goliath’s authority and silencing his threats. God uses the most least likely vessel in the eyes of man as a conduit to bring Himself glory. David was an instrument in the hand of his Creator to usher in a divine interception and reroute a war.
“Then David said to the Philistine, ‘You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel. Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands.’ So I was, when the Philistine arose and came and drew near to meet David, that David hurried and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.” 1 Samuel 17:45-48
As most of us know by now, North Korea’s Kim Jong Un has deferred in launching missiles toward the US territory of Guam. I believe the hand of God has stayed the hand of the enemy through a divine interception. I also believe and prophesy that the smooth stone that David used as his weapon of choice to defeat Goliath in battle, is a prophetic symbol for the seed of faith that’s pricked the heart of Kim Jong Un for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, causing a divine turnaround and suddenly from the Lord.
Let’s pray that the heart of Kim Jong Un is being softened toward the heavenly Father as the wind of the Holy Spirit moves across North Korea bringing healing, salvations, Damascus Road encounters, and divine visitations from the Lord. Let’s decree and declare a divine interception has caused an unexpected turnaround in relationships between nations, countries and the world, bringing about allies instead of adversaries, and peace in place of war!
A Sign For the Body of Christ
I believe this event is also a sign to the Body of Christ that the Lord is moving through divine interceptions at this hour. The Lord is intercepting the enemy on behalf of His people and coming through with sudden blessings to demonstrate His goodness and power. Where there’s been a spirit of defeat, the Lord is ushering in victory and breakthrough.
A special favor is upon those who have remained hidden and out of sight to come to the forefront and be used by God in a mighty way. Anointings are being identified, promotions granted and upgrades established in the spiritual realm. The Spirit of the Lord is bringing divine interceptions your way!
Unexpected Suddenlies
In closing, I believe we are also in a season of unexpected suddenlies. Recently, I woke up from a dream where surprise gifts and unexpected celebrations were being experienced by those around me. I was in a season of immense joy and surprise as the favor of the Lord was upon us. (Photo via Pexels)
In addition to this first dream, a few days ago I woke up out of another dream where the most unlikely people were helping me and others accomplish their heart’s desire. There was unity in unexpected places and gifts and favor being offered and facilitated through unexpected means. I woke up out of the dream hearing the words, “Who knew?” As if to say I never expected that!
Prepare yourself for God to move in a way you hadn’t expected. The Spirit of the Lord is coming by unexpected means and through unexpected people. We are in a season of grace for upgrades in gifts, anointing and callings. God is switching things up a bit and elevating some to make room for others. God is in the business of blessing and He sees the faithfulness of the righteous.
“And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.” Acts 2:2
Where some of you have felt like you’ve missed a season or been in a state of delay, I sense the Spirit of the Lord granting special favor upon those who have remained steadfast. The shifting winds are here and suddenlies are in the air. Let go of what was and stay in the flow of the Holy Ghost. The Spirit of the Lord is moving!
“And he swore by Him Who lives for ever and ever, Who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it, and said, ‘There will be no more delay!'” Revelation 10:6 (To Subscribe to the Elijah List subscribe here.)
