The Lord has been speaking to me about the seriousness of the season, revival and different types of awakenings. Then recently one night, I heard the Lord clearly say, “This is a wake-up call.”
We’ve always said that the Church could not have a revival or an awakening until someone, at least one, was revived or awakened. In fact, I believe that right now God is busy awakening a company of “awakeners” that will awaken others. And today, you’re receiving your very own, personal wake-up call! The nations will not wake up until we finally awaken to His glory that wants to arise in and through us!
“So wake up, you living gateways! Lift up your heads, you ageless doors of destiny! Welcome the King of Glory, for He is about to come through you.” (Psalm 24:7)
I used to think that perhaps there would be another Evan Roberts, another William Seymour, another Charles Finney. But no, it’s us. It’s time for all of us to shake off our complacency and arise!
“…Arise (awake), my dearest. Hurry, my darling. Come away with me! I have come as you have asked to draw you to my heart and lead you out. For now is the time, my beautiful one.” (Song of Songs 2:10 emphasis added)
Our Beloved Bridegroom (Jesus) would not have us be spiritually asleep! HE is risen, but many of us still fail to rise up from our lower loves, our lower desires and lower pursuits. And so, He calls us to “Arise and come away.” To come further and further away from everything selfish, everything worldly and sinful. He calls us from the religion of the outward and external which lacks the mystery contained in the higher life with Him. For what is there to hold us in this wilderness of vanity and sin? Lord, raise us, draw us, and send Your Holy Spirit to kindle sacred flames of love in our hearts, so that we will arise and follow You! (Taken from our book “The Sacred Journey: God’s Relentless Pursuit of Our Affection.”)
Awakening Eyes
I saw eyes opening; the Lord is awakening our eyes to what really matters in life. He’s giving us eyes to see past our difficulties to see Jesus, the one who holds all the answers, for with Him all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).
In Song of Songs 4:1, the bridegroom says about the Shulamite’s eyes, “…Your eyes glisten with love, like gentle doves…” In this passage, her glistening eyes speak of eyes of her perception, eyes of understanding (Ephesians 1:18). And doves, which her eyes are compared to, are symbols of purity, loyalty and devotion. So, her eyes only sought out those things that were pure and good and not evil. And just as a dove’s eyes can only focus on one thing at a time, her heart was singular in its focus, which was on her bridegroom.
The Lord wants to awaken a people with a singular focus—Jesus! Our eyes must be full of the love of Jesus until we overflow with pure and righteous perceptions. His perceptions are the perceptions that line up with Heaven.
The Sons of Issachar Are Awakening
“From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take.” (1 Chronicles 12:32)
In Jesus Christ, we all have the capability to be an Issachar, knowing the signs of the time and the best course to take.
“Those who live in the Spirit are able to carefully evaluate all things…we possess Christ’s perceptions.” (1 Corinthians 2:15-16)
We possess Christ’s perceptions, and with our eyes awakened, the Lord is going to raise us up as those who rejoice over the future, and don’t just survive. For the Lord is awakening our perception and discernment in this hour to understand the best course to take.
The Father created us at our new birth to see things differently. We have the possibility to see the sunshine when others see rain, to see an army when others just see bones…and I hear the bones rattling in this hour, coming together. A company of men and women are rising up (Ezekiel 37:1-10) with understanding like the sons and daughters of Issachar!
Discernment and understanding of the way ahead is being revealed by the One who made the seasons. Press into His heart today. Ask, seek, knock and doors of revelation and understanding will open. He is enlightening eyes to see what others are missing. Find the light that is found in the beautiful face of Jesus! (Photo via Unsplash)
“I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of His calling—that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that He finds in us, His holy ones!”(Ephesians 1:18)
An Awakening of Champions
“The villagers ceased in Israel; they ceased to be until I arose; I, Deborah, arose as a mother in Israel…Awake, awake, Deborah! Awake, awake, break out in a song! Arise, Barak, lead away your captives, O son of Abinoam.” (Judges 5:7, 12)
The Lord is wakening His Deborahs in this hour! Girls, it’s time to come out of hiding! The Father has been waiting for you to arise and run with the Baraks. Some have already answered the call, but He’s calling out for more to arise and take their place! For the harvest is plentiful and great and more are needed to bring it in.
It’s time to run together, bringing hope and life to a lost and dying world. It’s time to take back what the enemy has stolen. We need you, Deborahs, with your Spirit of discernment and encouragement, to run along side the Baraks.
Love Will Awaken the Complacent
It’s time to be a love-sick lover for God. A love-sick lover will do anything for more love. That’s where the term “crazy in love” comes from. How in love with Jesus are you? Are you ready for more? The day and hour for complacency is over.
I was once complacent, only I called it peaceful. I always said that nothing bothered me. I thought that I was so at peace, but one day the Lord came to me and said, “You’re not peaceful, you’re just passive. You’re stuck, and you like being lukewarm, but I don’t. It’s time to say good-bye to passivity because you’re actually harboring a spirit of apathy. Today is your day to wake up!”
If you’re that person that’s cuddling a spirit of apathy, it’s time for it to go. The Lord wants to use you like you’ve never been used before. Circumstances are different and all of life has changed. Now it’s time for you to change too. As followers of Christ we were never called to remain ignorant and complacent. Get ready to be astonished at all that the Lord will accomplish in and through you as you yield your heart to His love. Let your heart be ignited and you’ll wonder why you held on to your apathy for so long.
“So, wake up, sleepyhead. How long will you lie there? If you keep nodding off and thinking, ‘I’ll do it later,’ or say to yourself, ‘I’ll just sit back awhile and take it easy,’ just watch how the future unfolds!” (Proverbs 6:9-10)
“Be enthusiastic to serve the Lord, keeping your passion toward Him boiling hot! Radiate with the glow of the Holy aSpirit and let Him fill you with excitement as you serve Him. Let this hope burst forth within you, releasing a continual joy. Don’t give up in a time of trouble, but commune with God at all times.” (Romans 12:11-12)
Just watch, you will begin to see amazing results in your life and ministry as you stir yourself up in His love! It’s time for His sleeping beauty to arise and wake up!
Many Will Awake to Find Yahweh Was There After All
Many of you are facing hard situations right now. The Lord is pulling you into a greater intimacy and understanding of His love. He’s coming to wrap you up in His wrap-around presence. He hasn’t forgotten you and He isn’t looking the other way. When Jacob was desperate and running from His brother Esau, he didn’t know that God was with him in that place of desperation. But the Father God was there all the time.
“Jacob awakened out of his sleep, and he said, ‘Surely Yahweh is in this place, and I didn’t know it.'” (Genesis 28:16)
How many times have we been led to an uncomfortable place in life, only to encounter the Lord? Have you said, looking back on your life, “Truly the Lord was in all I went through, and I didn’t know it!” We often discover that He is where we did not think He would be. Jacob had a divine visitation! Ordinary places can become Holy places. The Lord is about to visit you and show you that He is there after all. (Footnote from the Passion Translation)
Awakening to Righteousness: A Warning Dream
I dreamed a second time that God came to me again, saying, “This is a wake-up call!” This time it was a warning dream. I then heard this Scripture, 1 Corinthians 15:34, “Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God…” And I heard Him emphasize the last part, “for some have not the knowledge of God…” (Photo via Picpedia)
If we fail to walk in righteousness as sons and daughters of God, not only will our own lives be hindered, but also the lives of those around us. And worse than that, we will hinder the harvest of souls that are waiting to come into the Kingdom. Lukewarm Christians are not just distasteful to God (Revelation 3:16), they are distasteful to everyone around them.
“So be very careful to live, not being like those with no understanding, but live honorably with true wisdom, for we are living in evil days. Take full advantage of every day as you spend your life for His purposes.” (Ephesians 5:15-16)
You only have to take a look back at David’s life to understand the effects of sin on the human heart, and the damage it does to those surrounding us. Even though it is said over and over that David was a man after God’s own heart, in a moment of weakness and sin, his life began to go in a downward spiral.
This could be any one of us. We must stay grounded in love and cemented into God’s heart. It’s time for us to put aside all of our excuses and awaken to righteousness. The Lord is here to help us live a righteous life without compromise. He’s here to close every door of compromise that we’ve opened to the enemy.
“You must catch the troubling foxes, those sly little foxes that hinder our relationship. For they raid our budding vineyard of love to ruin what I’ve planted within you. Will you catch them and remove them for me? We will do it together.” (Song of Songs 2:15)
What are some of those foxes, the things that hinder your love for Christ? What are the things that easily beset you? It could be a number of things; struggling with your identity, worry, fear, trust issues, addictions, distractions. Whatever it is, it’s time to confess, repent and go back to your first love!
“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
“…[T]he season of hiding is over and gone. The rains have soaked the earth and left it bright with blossoming flowers. The season of singing and pruning the vines has arrived. I hear the cooing of doves in our land, filling the air with songs to awaken you and guide your fourth.
“Can you not discern this new day of destiny breaking forth around you? The early signs of my purposes and plans are bursting forth. The budding vines of new life are now blooming everywhere. The fragrance of their flowers whispers, ‘There is change in the air.’ Arise my love, my beautiful companion, and run with me to the higher place. For now is the time to arise and come away with me.” (Song of Songs 2:11-13)
It’s time for your own personal awakening! Take time for more of His love! It’s time!
