I turn on the news every now and then and I see panic and fear being fed on a platter to millions of people every day. The coronavirus is the main topic of news right now, and I pray for the families across the world that, unfortunately, have met face to face with this evil. But I see an even greater evil happening at the same time, and that is the demonic spirit of fear at work here. As Christians we have to hold on to the truth that God HAS NOT given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind!
So what do we do when there is a real threat happening? Do we say that we’re completely unbothered because we are wanting to sound more spiritual? Or do we go into a panic like the rest of the world, let our faith fly out the window and become upset over present circumstances? I would have to advise neither of these!
Exposing Fear for What It Is
As humans we have to come to the realization that in our lives, at different times, we will face certain fears; which means we may have that unpleasant emotion that comes with it, but we DO NOT have to live a lifestyle of fear at all. Know this: Fear is a demonic spirit and a liar according to John 8:44.
Worry, panic, fretfulness, horror, paranoia, dread, constant nervousness, night terrors and things of this nature are not characteristics or feelings that Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ should have to live with every day. The Word of God says, “And you’ll know the truth and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). Jesus is the truth!
There are many fears people live with every day and they don’t realize a spirit of fear is operating in their lives. Fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of being alone, fear of sickness, fear of lack, fear of death and a slew of other fears have been hindering the Church for too long.
But in this season as we are seeing revival break out all over the nation, and as we are also seeing darkness covering the people, I believe God is awakening the Church to see fear for exactly what it is; it’s not just a part of your personality or who you are, it’s a spirit and it needs to be evicted!
So many people are afraid to step out into what God has called them to do because fear has crippled them, but I sense a mighty deliverance coming as the light of Jesus begins to expose this hidden snake in the lives of Believers all over the world!
Applying the Light of Truth
The enemy loves to hide and stay in the dark shadows. He hates when he is exposed to the light of truth. He works overtime to plant unsound doctrine and religious restricting mindsets. All of this is rooted in fear so that he can keep people locked in demonic chains and create people who are prisoners of their own minds.
2 Corinthians 2:11 (AMP), “To keep satan from taking advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his schemes.”
Let’s look at the Scripture above. It tells us that, number one, satan is trying to take advantage of us. One of the ways he does that is by causing us to be ignorant or unaware of his schemes, tactics, plans, and strategies. He does not want you to know that he is behind anxiety, fear, reluctance, doubt, rage, isolation, worry, panic, and even lack of effort. Once we become aware of the areas in our lives that the enemy has tried to bring fear, we can then rightfully apply the light of truth to the situation to bring us out of that stronghold.
Psalms 55:22 (NIV), “Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.”
You cannot cast a care that is hidden or cast something you are unaware of. Jesus confronts the lies of fear!
Mark 4:39-40 (NIV), “He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to His disciples, ‘Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?'”
He confronted the root of their fear head on and rebuked it! He then began to challenge them to confront and deal with their fear by asking them, “Why are you so afraid?” We must ask ourselves this same question, today! Why are you so afraid?
The storm was a lie! It made them think that they were going to die or be harmed in some way. At the end of the day, it was just a lot of noise from the enemy to cause them to doubt and not trust in the God who was with them on the boat! FEAR IS A LIAR; GOD IS WITH YOU!
Today is the day to break free from any fear that may be operating in your life – even fear from childhood is no match for God Almighty!
I hear the Lord saying loudly over you today, “COME OUT OF THAT PLACE OF FEAR AND INTO MY PERFECT LOVE. THERE IS REST HERE, THERE IS SAFETY HERE!”
