The 24th May 2017 was the 43rd day of the omer. It is the day when Jesus ascended to the Father, leaving the disciples to complete His instructions by spending the last week of the count in the upper room. This is the week of the upper room! Over the years, I have written a number of times about this time period and its spiritual implications. I was led to read through those articles and felt strongly to take portions of them and send a ‘patchwork’ of those bits that are relevant today, before I send out the message the Lord gave me for this year. My comments are in bold italics. May you be blessed and receive confirmation of where you are in His process:
The time of the counting of the omer is a time of threshing, of removing fleshly understandings of the Word and also a time of separation between true followers and those who were just going along with the crowd. This seven week period is also a time during which those true disciples who were struggling within themselves were gathered in and counted as one of Jesus’ true disciples. Think of Peter whom Jesus went looking for and reinstated in his calling. Think of Thomas who was full of doubt and whom Jesus specially paid a visit to so he could see and touch the wounds of Jesus and be delivered of doubt forever.
Beloved, you may have been struggling with yourself or your faith, but remember today that you have been counted in as one of Jesus true followers. He sees your heart and will minister to you in such a way that your fears and doubts vanish!
Besides its significance as the day on which the Torah was given by God to the Jewish nation at Mount Sinai, Shavuot is also connected to the season of the grain harvest in Israel. In ancient times, the grain harvest lasted seven weeks and was a season of gladness (Jer. 5:24; Deut. 16:9-11; Isa. 9:2). It began with the harvesting of the barley during Passover and ended with the harvesting of the wheat at Shavuot. Shavuot(Pentecost) was thus the concluding festival of the grain harvest.
Shavuot was also the first day on which individuals could bring the Bikkurim (first fruits) to the Temple in Jerusalem. The Bikkurim were brought from the Seven Species for which the Land of Israel is praised: wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, and dates (Deut. 8:8). In the largely agrarian society of ancient Israel, Jewish farmers would tie a ribbon around the first ripening fruits from each of these species in their fields. These first-fruits would continue to grow and ripen in the field. At the time of harvest, the fruits identified by the ribbon would be cut and placed into baskets woven of gold and silver. The baskets would then be placed on oxen whose horns were gilded and laced with garlands of flowers, and who were led in a grand procession to Jerusalem.
Because you have not been moved to a different location before now, you may have doubted God’s plan for your life. See in the Spirit today the ‘red ribbon’ round your life, marking you as part of His Firstfruits Company. When the time is fully ripe (and you have grown to mature manhood in Christ), you will be harvested and brought together with others of the same company and carried with great joy to your appointment. Be aware it happens towards the end of this final week so that the offering could be properly prepared.
At Shavuot, the wheat first-fruits offering was presented as two large loaves of leavened bread. The wheat had been harvested and ground to flour and made into bread. The offering is in the prepared state!! The firstfruits sheaf is winnowed, ground, sifted, mixed with water and then there is a period of the dough rising to new heights and then finally a baking in the oven or applying of fire which finally prepares the bread to be edible. The time of waiting for the dough to rise and putting in the fire, the time of baking, is relatively short compared to the grinding, the adding of water and the kneading that goes on – but the raising and oven time is entirely necessary to make the bread edible.
Interestingly, the period during which bread dough rises is called the ‘proving’ of the dough. It is the time when the yeast of the kingdom spreads throughout the whole dough and fills it with oxygen, thus causing it to rise to a greater stature and size than before. It also makes the bread easy to digest as it is light and fluffy. Bread that has not risen properly sits like lead in the stomach. So too, the time of proving during the counting of the omer is vital in order for the yeast of the Kingdom truth to fully permeate our understandings that we may ascend spiritually to the place prepared for us and be found in one accord concerning the gospel of the Kingdom. Once Jesus emerged from the tomb, resurrection power was flowing from Him continually in all He spoke and did and so he was raising the understanding of His disciples with the revelation they were receiving. The time of the counting of the omer is a time when our understanding is elevated due to the continual revelation being received by the Spirit.
The week spent in prayer in the upper room with the final application of the fire of the Spirit produced bread to feed a hungry world. Bread dough does rise still further in the heat of the oven and we see this in the upper room as the disciple’s understanding was further raised by the Spirit in the opening Peter’s eyes to the need to complete the number of disciples. Once again God was conforming His remnant to what had been written:
Act 1:16 Brethren, he said, it was necessary that <u>the Scripture be fulfilled</u> which the Holy Spirit foretold by the lips of David, about Judas who acted as guide to those who arrested Jesus. Act 1:17 For he was counted among us and received [by divine allotment] his portion in this ministry. …Act 1:20 For <u>in the book of Psalms it is written</u>, Let his place of residence become deserted and gloomy, and let there be no one to live in it; and [again], Let another take his position or overseership.
The day of Jesus’ ascension separates 6 weeks of the omer from the final week. In effect, it is a hinge or pivot point marking the end of the season of the resurrected Jesus’ earthly ministry and the era of the Spirit. The final week is in a sense a précis of the whole seven week period of counting the omer. It is a week of transition when the Word and the Spirit come together. During that week, there is the ascending to the place prepared for them according to the promise of Jesus; there is the coming into one accord and the conforming completely to what had been written in the Word and then the Spirit could be poured out as promised. Beloved, it is necessary for your life to be conformed to what has been written for you. You have been filled with the Spirit but still have promises waiting to be fulfilled concerning God’s plan for you.
Eph 1:14 That [Spirit] is the guarantee of our inheritance [the firstfruits, the pledge and foretaste, the down payment on our heritage], in anticipation of its full redemption and our acquiring [complete] possession of it–to the praise of His glory.
Today is also the 50th anniversary of Jerusalem coming back into the hands of its rightful owners. Jubilee is on the Father’s heart and those destine dto be part of His heavenly city shall be set free and returned to their rightful Owner, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.(this is exactly what my latest book is about and today marks the Jubilee celebration in the natural city of Jerusalem!) We are privileged to live in a time when the fullness of times has come, when Heaven’s window of wide open opportunity is flung open!
There is a fullness of inheritance to be released to you in the kingdom of God. It has been kept beyond the reach of change and decay in Heaven for you and is about to be poured out. No-one can steal your inheritance from you. You may have been captive for a while but your inheritance is safe, unsullied and untouched and on the brink of flooding into your life! From the womb of the upper room will spill forth God’s fiery power-filled remnant, those who are willing to follow the Lamb and bring in the harvest of the end of the age. May this last week of the counting of the omer be a period of great revelation; that the eyes of your understanding are enlightened just as Paul prayed for the Ephesian Church because it is God’s desire to bring you full circle, to complete the glorious work He began in you. If nothing else from this article remains with you, my prayer is that you would meditate upon the scripture below until it becomes flesh in you because God desires His Body to contain the FULL measure of Christ.
Eph 1:17 [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him, Eph 1:18 <u>By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones),</u> Eph 1:19 And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness <u>of His power</u> <u>in and for us who believe</u>, as demonstrated in the working of His mighty strength, Eph 1:20 Which He exerted in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His [own] right hand in the heavenly [places], Eph 1:21 Far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named [above every title that can be conferred], not only in this age and in this world, but also in the age and the world which are to come. Eph 1:22 And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church Eph 1:23 Which is His body, <u>the fullness of Him Who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself]. </u>
Just as the people had brought their first-fruits offerings in a prepared state to Jerusalem; so too Jesus had brought His prepared first-fruits offering there. The shadow and the fulfilment were present together mirroring each other on that first Pentecost. The disciples had been prepared by forty days of teaching following the resurrection. They had different mindsets and understandings concerning the scriptures than those they had possessed before the resurrection. They were not like grains of wheat, still containing the husks or soulish understandings of the Word, but had been turned into loaves which could offer the true Bread of Heaven to a hungry world.
In this day, the mirror and parallel is found between the established religious system of Christendom and those who have been walking with Jesus in a 40 day proving period, before ushering in a new dispensation in the calendar of Heaven.
In the same way, at this time, there are those who have been receiving instruction on how to rightly divide the Word of Truth directly from the Spirit of God. They have not received this instruction at the hands of man but by the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead. They words they speak are spirit and life. This company has undergone seven days of waiting in the upper room, the place of heavenly understanding. Seven stands for completion of preparation, trial and testing; coming full circle. The trial has been in order to bring them to a singleness of position and mindset (in one accord in one place). To put it in other words, to bring them to a place of possessing the mind of Christ, in unity with the Head, Who is seated in heavenly places.
The Word tells us that ‘when the day of Pentecost had fully come’, the Holy Spirit filled them. The counting of the Omer signifies a complete measuring before the Spirit was poured out. A measuring unto what?
I had a vision in 2012, at this time of year, of a crucible with silver pieces inside it and a complete refining taking place so that all the silver melted into one cohesive whole. The refining continued UNTIL the measure was complete, until Christ came forth. This seven days of waiting in the upper room was a refining time in which completion of understanding and revelation of Christ was formed within the waiting group. Then it was time for the Spirit to fill them. The measuring that you have been undergoing and the trial that has been refining you is to last only until the end of the counting of the Omer, only until you are brought to a singleness of mind and a heavenly position. Then day 50 arrives. Fifty refers to jubilee, to a setting free. The waiting 120 were filled with the Spirit and liberated from their waiting room and spilled out onto the streets with such joy that those watching thought they had been drinking new wine. The disciples leave the upper room with the knowledge that ‘this is that which was spoken of…’ – that they are living representations of the word of prophesy made flesh in the fullness of time.
Beloved, the new wine of the revelation of Christ is going to be poured forth from vessels who have made themselves ready. Shavuot was also connected to a wedding ceremony when Moses brought the Israelites to Mount Sinai to meet with their Bridegroom and He presented His vows. They were not ready but in this season, as with the disciples at Pentecost, there are those who <u>have</u> made themselves ready. They have received instruction and revelation from the resurrected Christ; they have been obedient to wait patiently during the seven day period of completion (feeling separated from Christ) in the upper room. This is the place of not leaning on your own understanding, an earthly mindset – the place of receiving the missing pieces of the puzzle in your understanding in order to bring to completion the preparation necessary. In a sense, it is the icing and the putting of candles on the cake which has been baked… and then the Spirit of the Lord comes and lights the candles with his fiery breath and the BIRTHday of the chapter God has whispered about in your life for so long is celebrated!!
When Day 50, the appointed day of release, has fully come; the Holy Spirit will mark each of these with a tongue of fire upon their heads and they will be released and displayed to every nation under heaven as His jewels. Out of the womb of the morning of that first Pentecost day sprang God’s young men who are as the dew (psalm 110 fulfilled) speaking to many nations in their own languages (sometimes God brings the nations to you instead of sending you to them!)
We find a reference to these tongues of fire, called the flame of the Lord in Songs 8:
Son 8:6 Set me as a seal on Your heart, as a seal on Your arm; for love is strong as death. Jealousy is cruel as the grave; its flames are flames of fire, the flame of the Lord.
There is a wedding spoken of in this chapter, between the Bridegroom and the Shulamite. The flame of fire on the 120 in the upper room was a personal seal of the jealous love of the Bridegroom for His Bride. It was a mark that set the Bride apart as holy unto Him, a vessel that would never belong to another. Paul spoke of Himself as having received the first-fruits of the Spirit. The word ‘first-fruits’ signifies that there is more to come – there is also a fullness of the Spirit. The first-fruits Bridal company spilled out of the upper room, full of the Holy Spirit. In these days, there is coming a release of the fullness of the Bridal Company, marked and sealed with the fire of God and operating in the fullness of the Spirit.
They will bring revelation that will cause the Body to grow to full measure – ‘a full-grown man, to the <u>measure</u> of the stature of the fullness of Christ’ (Eph 4). They will bring revelation, new wine from the Father, to quench the thirst of the Body and bring it to full measure; they will operate in the seven Spirits of God, the fullness of the Spirit. Every nation under heaven will be touched by them; every nation under heaven will hear the great works of God in their own language, in a way they can understand. This time, the spilling forth is not from the upper room in Jerusalem below but from the upper room in the Jerusalem above. This upper room has been the womb of preparation on Mount Zion; where the church of the firstborn are recorded in heaven.Heb 12:22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the first-born who are written in Heaven, and to God the judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect
In Revelation, we read of the Bride, the heavenly Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God as a Bride prepared for her husband. The bridal company will descend from heaven, having made herself ready! From this place will emerge a revelation of Christ carried in vessels of gold and silver, in a demonstration of the Spirit and of power. The fullness of Pentecost will be manifested in the earth in this day. This will be in order to bring in the fullness of the harvest in the earth. Once again God will be sealing with His approval, a first-fruits company, and sending them into all the earth.
‘These are they which follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These were redeemed from among men, being the first-fruits unto God and to the Lamb.’ Rev 14
FILLING IN THE GAPSAfter forty days Jesus ascended on the 43rd day of the omer, leaving the disciples and others alone in the upper room for the last week of counting. By the Spirit, Peter was shown from the Word that the full number of 12 disciples must be restored. In the time of the counting of the omer, expect to receive revelation from the Word of anything lacking in preparation for outpouring and also to receive counsel and wisdom as to how to rectify things. Matthias took the place of Judas and in the same way, the gap and loss in your life that has been caused by the betrayal and action of the enemy will be restored at this time. Matthias means ‘gift’. At this time, revelation will be released that will cause us to see that the very things that led to our crucifixion and great wounding were in fact the agents God appointed to bring us past the place of death into resurrection power. Until we have fellowshipped in His sufferings and become conformed to His death, we are not able to attain to the resurrection from the dead while still in the body. So the agent of wounding and persecution is actually revealed to be the gift of God hidden in an ugly outer skin, much like the tabernacle of God was covered with badger skins in the wilderness!
Jesus ascended after forty days of explaining the kingdom from a resurrection power perspective, in order to move His disciples into the next kingdom season when the Spirit would be poured forth. There was a changing of the guard so to speak when the Holy Spirit took over and Jesus returned to His appointed place of reigning beside the Father. In the same way, during the time of the counting of the omer, there is a changing of the guard and a moving into the next season in God. Whereas previously the disciples had walked with Jesus and conversed face to face in order to receive instruction and direction, the new season entailed an empowering from within, a filling with the Spirit and a receiving of power. They moved from using their natural senses to see and hear into a season of using only their spiritual eyes and ears to hear the Spirit’s voice. Beloved, there may be a removal of the tangible presence of Jesus for a short season just before the expected outpouring, in order to cause you to begin to rely upon your spiritual senses as never before. God wants you to be fully led by the Spirit and not by your natural reasoning or senses. It is vital for the days that lie ahead that we learn not to judge by the hearing of our ears or the seeing of our eyes so that we are not adversely affected by the growing darkness in the earth. It is during this short last seven days of the counting of the omer when God tied up loose ends and moved to restore what was lost and release spiritual understanding to bring all in the upper room into one accord in one place. Previously the disciples were probably just delighted that Judas was gone, not understanding the hand of God behind what had happened. Jesus had to be betrayed in order for Him to be crucified…in order for Him to be resurrected! SO God needs to put some of our history into proper perspective, kingdom perspective. We will come to a place of really knowing that all things work together for good and will therefore be able to leave the last chapter behind and move on into God’s new season unimpeded by pain and loss from the past.
To count also means ‘to ordain, appoint, assign’. When Joshua had brought the people of God into the Promised Land, he assigned different portions to different tribes. I get the sense that during the counting of the omer, there is an assigning in the heavenly realm of different portions of the land of our inheritance. There is an appointing of certain realms of authority and a setting in place in much the same way as God set the stars in place in the heavens on the fourth day. The stars were to give light upon the earth and in the same way, the members of this Tithe company are being assigned set positions in God’s kingdom in order to give light and revelation in the dark days ahead to those dwelling on the earth. For every appointing, there is a corresponding anointing to equip one to function and walk in your appointed role. Just as the song ‘invitation to a feast’ describes, there are appointed places at the table and good works prepared beforehand for you to walk in. God has prepared a feast on Mount Zion:
Isa 25:6 And on this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make to all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. Isa 25:7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations. Isa 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the reproach of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD has spoken it.
The reproach that is on your life because of you having been in the time of trial, with no visible proof of that which you declare by faith, is about to be removed! God is going to pour out the best wine saved until last through your life! Be seated at the table where your place-name indicates and begin to feast on your appointed portion!
Jesus ascended on the forty-third day of the omer in order to be seated in a RULING POSITION at the right hand of the Father and the disciples also ascended in order to receive POWER from the outpouring of the Spirit. In Revelation 12, it describes how the manchild comes forth and also ascends to the throne in order to RULE. This manchild which is birthed with the dragon breathing flames upon its face is therefore linked to the omer company we have been studying. They await a catching up and an outpouring and equipping to function in a kingly capacity. This is not a physical happening but a spiritual experience in the same way as John the Beloved was ‘caught up’ in the Spirit when receiving the Revelation of Christ.
So much has been written about the coming forth of the manchild in Revelation 12 but the final verse of chapter 11 gives us some very interesting information about the process which is involved:
Rev 11:19 And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightening, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.
Remember when Moses received instruction on the furniture for the tabernacle in the wilderness? He was shown heavenly things which were the patterns he had to follow in order to produce an earthly version. Here in Revelation 11 is the heavenly ark from which the pattern was taken for the ark which the priests bore upon their shoulders. The earthly ark is an Old Testament type or shadow of what God intended the Body of Christ to be in the earth – a moving receptacle carrying the presence and power of God. Inside the ark were the tablets of stone, the rod of Aaron and the jar full of manna. The Body of Christ is supposed to carry the Word of God written on their hearts, the authority and power of God depicted by the rod and daily fresh revelation of the Bread of Life depicted by the manna. What is interesting is the amount of manna placed in that golden jar:Exo 16:32 And Moses said, This is the thing which the LORD commands, Fill an omer of it to be kept for your generations; that they may see the bread wherewith I have fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you forth from the land of Egypt. Exo 16:33 And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna in it, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your generations.
So once again an ‘omer’ is mentioned being present in the earthly ark. Now we know that everything on earth has its corresponding original in heaven. Paul calls them ‘ the patterns of things in the heavens'( Heb 9:23). So we know that within the ark in heaven there is also an omer of manna inside the golden vessel. Paul tells us:
1Co 15:49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
The omer of manna in the golden vessel in heaven represents those who are dwelling in heavenly places in Christ (represented by the ark), those vessels of honor in whom the Word (the Bread of Life) has become flesh. They now bear the image of the heavenly, the ruling and reigning Son of God. They have been gathered together in one accord in one place and it is the revelation of Christ within them which will be used to feed the true church in the wilderness for three and a half years:
Rev 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days.
For too long people have been offered earthly bread, earthly soulish revelation and therefore bear the image of the earthy but in these days we are entering, the woman who is being sheltered in the wilderness will be fed with the True Bread of Heaven.
Joh 6:31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Joh 6:32 Then Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. Joh 6:33 For the bread of God is he which comes down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Joh 6:34 Then said they to him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. Joh 6:35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believes on me shall never thirst.
<u>True</u> Bread, true revelation of Christ, only comes down from Heaven and the Father has been preparing a company who have allowed themselves to be made into bread to feed the hungry church. This omer is found resting in Christ in heavenly places and at the time when the woman in the heavens is seen to bring forth the manchild we notice that the temple in heaven is OPENED (Rev 11:19). In other words, that which has previously been shut and sealed begins to be revealed. What was previously hidden begins to be ‘seen’. From within the temple, the ark comes into view in just the same way as from within the woman the manchild is brought forth. Previously this manchild was veiled and hidden within the woman but then it emerges as separate and distinct from the woman.
‘And there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail’ – notice that the ark is mentioned which means that the contents of the Holy of Holies in the heavens comes into view. God is releasing revelation previously hidden and the thunderings and lightning bolts refer to God speaking and giving revelation through His omer of manna in the ark. This causes shaking in the earthly realm and there are also hailstones released, representing hard words released from God’s storehouse to bring conviction and repentance in those whom they strike.
If you remember, the Israelites were not allowed to collect manna for themselves on the seventh day. They were instructed to rest, having gathered a double portion of manna on the sixth day. The manna consumed on the seventh day was done so from a position of ceasing from their own labors. We are now in the seventh day from creation ( a day being like a thousand years) and there is stored up in heavenly places revelation of Christ reserved for this seventh day. The woman in the wilderness does not gather and feed herself. She has ceased from her labors and entered into rest. She is nourished and fed daily by the omer of heavenly manna stored within the ark of the seated and ruling Christ.
In psalm 110, it describes how from the womb of the morning there come forth a company of young men who are ‘as the dew’. Remember that it was when the dew fell in the wilderness that the manna was delivered every morning. This manchild company, the golden vessel containing the omer of manna, will deliver the heavy latter rain of the revelation of Christ.
Hos 6:2 …in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight (before His face).Hos 6:3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the dawn and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the heavy latter rain to the earth.
He will come as the latter rain; He will come in a company – an end-time omer of manna in a golden vessel, who have been gathered together and counted in the ‘upper room’; those overcomers who have been granted to eat of the hidden manna of Christ themselves and are able to minister from a place of their own experience of the heavenly realm. They are spies and forerunners who have been to the promised land of our inheritance (which is the revelation of the fullness of Christ) and are fit to nourish and care for a wilderness people who have fled from the face of the dragon.
