Dear Friends,
Something to Think About
Ephesians 5:25-27 (NKJV) Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.
This was the purpose of the cross, the reason Jesus Christ gave His life for us: that He might make us holy in a real and practical way. He is the Lamb of God Who came to take away the sin of the world and restore righteousness. This is the church that He is returning for: a glorious church without spot or wrinkle, holy and without blemish. It is a church purified from all sin by the blood of the Lamb.
This was the purpose of the cross because this is what the Law could not do. It could not make us holy in a real and practical way so that we could be a holy temple for the indwelling Spirit of God. The Law was weak because the blood of bulls and goats could not bring remission of sins; it could not take our sin away. And because the Law could not make us holy, none of those under the Old Covenant could receive the promise of the Holy Spirit and eternal life.
Jesus gave His life as a perfect sacrifice “and washed us from our sins in His own blood”. Hebrews 13:12 (NKJV) Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate.
He died to make us holy, dead to sin and alive unto God. He sanctified us that might become His brethren conformed to his image being partakers of His glory to declare the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. 1 Peter 2:24 (NKJV) who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness–by whose stripes you were healed.
Jesus died on the cross to make an end of sins and bring in everlasting righteousness so that His Spirit of holiness could abide with us forever empowering us to do the same works and even greater works as we make disciples of all nations and teach them to obey all the commands of the Lord.
We are not our own. We have been bought with a price so that we might glorify God with our bodies and spirits. He came to make us to the praise of His glory. He is coming for a glorious church. Are you ready? Have you been washed in the blood of the Lamb to be holy and without blemish?
Revival Prayer: Isaiah 57:15 (NKJV) For thus says the High and Lofty One Who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, with him who has a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
O Most High and Holy God give us a heart of humility, a broken and contrite heart that is tender to Your touch that You might revive us again and restore us to that place of righteousness and justice. Make us a holy nation once again. Restore the joy of Your salvation. Make us alive unto You in all of our ways. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Sincerely,
George and Bonnie Delo
